Volunteer Spotlight: Meghana, Science Club Director

My name is Meghana Rao, and I am a sophomore at Jesuit High School. Leading the PAST&E Science program for the student athletes is something I am extremely excited about and something I have wanted to do for a very long time. I was introduced to science through a completely hands-on curriculum in elementary school. Because of this, I began to understand how science is thoroughly integrated into the world around us, such as in the designs of bridges and shapes of leaves. In middle school, I had the opportunity to apply science concepts to everyday problems through investigative science projects which I have continued on to this day.

I want the students to have the similar opportunity to develop their STEM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) through hands-on activities that allow them to understand science concepts by applying them to real problems in the world. I want them to learn how to tackle engineering challenges as a team, collaborate and share ideas, and present their findings to one another. I am looking forward to a year of creativity, exploration, and discoveries with the PAST&E student athletes.
