THERE ARE 3 WAYS TO VOLUNTEER
-
After-school program
Our after-school program runs Monday through Thursday from 2:45pm - 5:45pm, following the Portland Public Schools academic calendar. You will be a “coach” alongside one of our staff members and fellow volunteers, and you will participate in tennis practice, provide homework help, and support facilitation of educational and enrichment activities in various capacities depending on the unique skills you bring to the table. Regular (weekly) volunteers are preferred in order to build relationships with the scholar athletes and volunteer training is provided. Please fill out both forms to be considered! You can expect to hear back within a one week timeframe.

group volunteer day
Have a group of people who would like to come volunteer at PT&E? Bring in your company, family, or friends to help with our youth program, spruce up our racquet center, or support special events that serve our community. We can accommodate groups of up to 15 people. Send us an email with your group size, requested volunteer day timing, and whether you’re most interested in working directly with youth or supporting another project or event.

Summer program volunteers
You will be a “coach” alongside one of our staff members and fellow volunteers, and you will participate in tennis practice, provide homework help, and support facilitation of educational and enrichment activities in various capacities depending on the unique skills you bring to the table. Our nine-week summer program is split into three separate three-week terms (June 16 - July 3, July 7 - July 24, July 28 - August 14). Each term runs from Monday to Thursday from 8am - 3:30pm. We ask that volunteers commit to one of these terms for the entire portion in order to have continuity with the scholar athletes! Half-day volunteer training required.
As a volunteer at PT&E, I have found wonderful reverse mentors. Among other things, the student athletes have taught me strategies for freeze tag, introduced me to the adventures of Dog Man and reminded me it’s both fun and sometimes hard to learn new things. They brighten my day.
